Your comment is an interesting one, yet somewhat insignificat. I.e., if at the start of the season: RHR = 60 MHR = 180 then at 80% the Karvonen formula yields: 0.8(180-60)+60 = 156 after a season of training.. RHR = 50 MHR = 180 0.8(180-50)+50 = 154 or a difference of 2 BPM.

I have a bigger problem with a formula that says a 20% effort is 0.2 * 180 = 36 Yes, less that my RHR!!!
