Hi Paul!
More about the long run pace...
I've tried to run long runs on both lower heartrate zone and a bit higher zone.
Higher zone means that if I have aerobic threshold (the threshold from purely aerobic to aerobic + lactate) heart rate of 140, i run my long runs with heart rate of about 140-142 on average, so "on the aerobic threshold". Means that over half of my long run is over aerobic threshold.
However, when doing 2 hour log runs "on the aerobic threshold" once a week I find it increasingly difficult to get 60%-80% of purely aerobic running in my weekly routine, as most coaches in Finland are suggesting. That means i'd have to do very much easy runs to get my aerobic training to those amounts...
Any comments on amounts of purely aerobic training or other issues?
-Kai
