Hi again. There is a short answer and a long answer. First the short.
The time you should measure is the actual time on the run rather than preparation including stretching. If the run time is the same then as long as each session is over 20 minutes then 3 is better than 2.
The long answer depends on the what specifically you are training for. It is often difficult to get a good long run in if you increase the number of sessions so 2 may be better for developing endurance. Also if a third session is classed as an 'easy' session and limits the interval time or threshold distance than 2 may be better.
So try for 3 sessions of 20 mins or greater rather than 2 unless you are training for an event and have specific objectives.
