Jenny,
There is only limited documentation available at present. I intend improving on this for the final release. Currently there are three sources of infomation about using the program. Firstly a basic outline to the major menu items is in the read.me file in the RunCoach directory. Secondly each of the major items on a screen have hints connected with them. If you place your cursor over an item and leave it for a second or so then a yellow hint should appear telling you about the item. Thirdly the discussion database at http://www.sportscoach.com.au/runcoachdiscus/default.htm has answers to many questions.
RunCoach is designed to handle the fixed date races as they are the most common form of goal. When it provides you the advice that the race is too close it doesn't mean you have to change the date. It is just a friendly note to let you know that a longer preparation time would enable you to perform better. You can get it to to 'suggest a goal' in the 'Plan a Program' screen. The goal suggested may involve adjustment of both your target time and the race date. If the date is adjusted just shift it back to your actual race. The new target time will still be useable. The normal sequence is to enter your Pb's, then enter your goal details then get RunCoach to 'Suggest a Goal' then adjust any parameters you would like (eg setting the goal race back to the race date) then 'Plan a Program'.
Hope the above helps,
Paul
