It is a design feature to be able to edit the 'current distance' field. This is to take into account people who start using RunCoach mid way through a piece of gear's life, or purchase a 'used' item. In one of the upcoming beta's I will include a 'recalculate distance' button which will sum the miles from the start date you have entered. Currently you need to do this manually.
